to be a very busy term in Class 2. Over the past few weeks we’ve been walking
around Eastnor Lake, had a visit from the fire fighters at Ledbury Fire Station, a visit from Pudsey Bear
and started to sing our nativity songs!!
we have used our experiences to inspire our writing. We have been looking at
features of letters and writing our own notes, postcards and letters. We have
sent some postcards to the Eastnor Castle Estate office to say thank you for
letting us walk around the grounds and we have written thank you letters to the
Ledbury fire fighters to show our appreciation of their very exciting and
term in English, we have been enjoying the books of Julia Donaldson and have
begun looking at character descriptions. We used our Children in Need super
hero day to inspire some imaginative super hero character descriptions.
In Maths we
have continued to practice skills in addition and subtraction, really focusing
on quick recall of number bonds. Year 2 children have been adding and
subtracting multiples of 10 and we have
enjoyed using dice and dominoes to explore doubling and halving.
Class 2 have been up to some very
exciting things in the foundation subjects. In topic, we have continued to
learn about the Great Fire of London. In particular, we have been exploring
London and the different types of settlements. This week, we have explored our
local cities and we even made our very own city out of Lego.
In science, we have continued
learning about materials. Ledbury fire station visited us to help us learn
about flammable and non-flammable materials.
We have also looked at grouping materials based on their properties and
have started to explore changes within the properties of materials.
Our topic of relationships is
still being explored in PSHE. We have been looking at friendships and what it
means to be a good friend. To celebrate anti-bullying week, we have been
looking at what bullying means and what you can do if someone is being mean to
In art, we have started to explore smudging and
shading. We have been using a variety of tools to create different variations
in tone and using shading to complete pictures. In music we have been looking
at how we can use our bodies to create music. We have also been looking at how
we can record our music. We have created some lovely pieces of music that were
represented by symbols.
In computing we have been exploring E-safety. Within
this, we have been looking at what you should do to keep safe when on the
internet. This week we have moved onto manipulating information. We have
started looking at Microsoft Power point and word and explored saving and
