Bringing Joy to Birchams Grange

On Monday, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 were lucky enough to visit some of the residents at Birchams Grange. The children told the story of the Nativity by singing their favourite songs.

The residents (and staff) at Birchams Grange loved hearing everyone sing so beautifully and they enjoyed the chocolate treats we shared with them too!

This was a lovely experience for both the Eastnor children and everyone at Birchams Grange and was an example of the true meaning of Christmas!

Christmas Art Day Fun!

On Tuesday, children worked with their siblings and the children in their houses during our annual Christmas Art Day. It was such a treat to see all of the children helping each other to make beautiful crafts in a rotation of festive activities.

In Class 1, Miss Davies and Mrs Layton made calendars with each and every child. In Class 2, Miss Patchett, Miss Fisher and the children made their own Christmas tree decorations. In Class 3 Mrs Tart, Mrs Scull and Mrs Farnell made Christmas cards with every child in school! Finally, in Class 4, Miss Clark and Mrs Jones helped the children to create festive Christmas gift bags to carry home all of the wonderful things that they had made on the day.

It is always lovely to see the older children in school helping and supporting the younger ones to complete their crafts and a medley of Christmas songs greeted everyone in each classroom to sing along to!

Christmas Lunch Fun!

What a lovely time we all had on Wednesday sharing our Christmas lunch. The food was delicious; many thanks to Paul and Chris Adams from Elite Catering who work hard all year round to ensure the children and Eastnor staff get to enjoy such high quality meals - the Christmas dinner was certainly no exception!

The children and adults all enjoyed a leisurely lunch, sitting together chatting and listening to Christmas music. We had great fun sharing our cracker jokes too - the old ones are still the best!

Save the Children Christmas Jumpers!

It was lovely to see everyone wearing their Christmas jumpers in aid of the wonderful charity 'Save the Children' on Wednesday. School collected approximately £75 which is a great achievement.

Thank you to those of you who supported this event.

Christmas Party Day!

On Thursday, all of the children enjoyed their festive Christmas parties. Class 1 joined children in Years 1 and 2 for their afternoon of fun and Class 3 coupled up with Class 4. The children were all in the party mood, coming to school dressed in their fabulous party clothes ready to play games and boogie the afternoon away.

The teachers would especially like to thank Mrs Scull for sorting the 'pass the parcels' out again for us this year and to the children for their super behaviour all day. Hopefully the photos below will give you a flavour of the fun we all got up to!

A Special Winter Walk!

Today, the children had the most magical end to the school term when they embarked on a special (rather wet!) winter walk .

During their adventure, the children stumbled upon a wonderful grotto and Father Christmas himself, who had obviously used his Christmas magic to predict our arrival as every child in school was treated to a special present .

Father Christmas must know how important reading is at Eastnor School. Shh! .... but he also told me that he had chosen an extra special story for the upper KS2 children because he knows we will be using it lots next summer when we take to the stage! What a clever chap he is!

Our thanks go to Landrover who helped us organise this special trip. A visit to the magical grotto has been fully booked for the public for many weeks and we realise that we are very very lucky to have been given this opportunity!

A Fond Farwell to Mrs Scull

"Every ending is creating the space and opening for an amazing new beginning." Bryant McGill.

Today, we will be saying a fond farewell to Mrs Scull. Mrs Scull has been a hard working and highly respected member of the Eastnor team - for over 15 years - and she will be missed by everyone.

As she begins her new adventure (and one suspects, this will include lots of long holidays to the Lake District!) everyone would like to thank her for the wonderful contribution she has made during her time at Eastnor.

Goodbye and good luck Mrs Scull!

Christmas Prayers!

In class 2, the children wrote their own prayers this week and here is a very special one by George.

Dear Lord

Thank you for giving me a home, a family and friends.

Thank you that I was born in a loving family and I go to a loving school.

It is good that my family have enough to give me and my brother presents.

Thank you.

This very day in David's town your saviour was born Christ the Lord.

Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth.

Luke 2 verse

Class 0

Every member of the Eastnor team are very grateful for the generosity of parents who have treated them to Christmas cards and presents this week. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year full of hope and joy.

On behalf of the Governing Body, Nina Shields would like to wish all our families a very Happy Christmas and thank you all for your continued support and encouragement through another busy term in the life of the school. She hopes you all have an enjoyable break and that the children come back refreshed and ready for the Spring Term.
