Bank Holiday and Staff Training Days 2019/2020

You may have heard in the news , that the decision has been made to move the early May Bank Holiday to coincide with the 75th Anniversary VE Day celebrations. Instead of the previously planned Monday 4th May, the Bank Holiday has been moved to the Friday 8th May 2020, so school will be closed on this date instead.

Also, this academic year a number of schools in the Ledbury cluster, including Eastnor, will be closing for 3 afternoons throughout the academic year. These afternoons are to allow our staff to work alongside colleagues in the cluster schools and to take part in specialist training opportunities.

On the following days the school will shut at 1pm.

Roald Dahl Day - Friday 13th September

Next Friday 13th September, the whole school will focus on the life and work of the famous British author Roald Dahl, joining other schools up and down the country celebrating national Roald Dahl day. In the build up to next Friday, teachers will share Roald Dahl stories with their classes, focussing particularly on the fantastic language and characters in his unique and memorable stories. We also invite all children in each class to bring a story prop to school with them next Friday which represents one of his stories or rhymes. This might be a golden ticket, a witches broom, a stuffed toy crocodile or even a large pair of pretend ears! These props will be used throughout the day as part of our celebrations, as we share our knowledge and enjoyment of his wonderful stories. We look forward to celebrating this Dahl-icious event with the children!

Community Coffee and Cake to raise money for Macmillan!

Eastnor Primary School will be hosting a special event - with other members of the Eastnor community such as Bubbles and Birchams Grange - from 1pm on Thursday 19th September at Eastnor Cricket Club.

Our community cafe will open - selling cakes and refreshments - in a bid to raise money for Macmillan which I am sure you will all agree is a wonderful charity.

All children from across school will to go to the cricket club during the course of the afternoon. This will ideally be with parents, grandparents or family friends (we will request you pick children up from school if this is the case) or with their teacher and classmates.

Mrs Farnell is taking a lead in organising the event with representatives from Bubbles Nursery and Birchams Grange - my thanks go to her! However, many hands make light work and she also needs some willing parents to help her set up from 10am and run the event throughout the afternoon, alongside the class 4 children and staff from Bubbles Nursery and Birchams Grange. She will also need you to generously donate cakes and sweet treats for our customers to enjoy which I know you are always happy to do!

Please let us know if you can help on Friday 14th, and if you can in what capacity. I am sure that we can host another successful fundraising event in aid of this wonderful cause!

Class 1

Welcome back everyone! And what a fantastic start to the year already - I am incredibly proud of how well and quickly the newest members of our Eastnor family have settled in to their new school environment.

The children all looked fantastically smart in their new school uniforms and are already stepping up to their new routines and expectations.

A big well done too to all of their parents; we appreciate how emotional it can be for you when your youngsters start school - I have no doubt you are so proud of how well they have done during their first week!

I look forward to sharing plenty more stories and adventures from class 1 in the upcoming weeks.
