Pupil Premium

The ‘Pupil Premium’ was introduced in April 2011. Some parents may have heard of the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG). It is additional funding which is allocated to children who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) (from 2012 this includes those children who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years), to children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months and to children of armed force personnel.

Nationally, as a group, children who have been eligible for FSM at any point in time have consistently secured lower educational attainment than those who have never been eligible. The government believe that the Pupil Premium is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children from low-income backgrounds and their wealthier peers.

Schools are given the freedom to decide how they spend the Pupil Premium because they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their care. Schools are held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils.

Please see full details of how Eastnor Primary School have spent their Pupil Premium money in the reports below.

If you are in a family that you believe may be eligible for Free School Meals then please come and seek advice from the school office.

It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.”
