Early Years

Children are assessed at the start and end of reception. The results of the assessment at the start of reception are not shared with schools or parents but go directly to the DFE. The end of year assessment is called the ‘Early Years Statutory Profile’ and outcomes are shared with parents. Children are assessed against the Early Learning Goals which are:

  • Communication and language
  • Personal Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

In 2023 the outcomes for pupils at Eastnor was well above the national figure.

Phonics

Children in Y1 are assessed and must read 40 words (some real and some pseudo) using the phonics they have learnt. To meet the standard children must be able to read 32 of the 40 words. In 2023 the outcomes for pupils at Eastnor was well above the national figure.

Y2 SATs

Children in Y2 are assessed against expectations in reading, writing and mathematics. To make a judgement teachers use the children’s work, their reading, and some tests.
